1. Why are electrical wires so important in a home?

Wires are like the nerves of your home, carrying electricity everywhere. Poor-quality wires can overheat, cause short circuits, fires, or reduce the life of your appliances.

2. Do all wires work the same?

No. Different appliances and installations require specific sizes and insulation types. Wrong wires may either waste electricity or fail to protect you in an emergency.

3. Why should I check the wire type in my new home?

Builders often use the cheapest wires. Once wires are concealed, replacing them is costly. Always ensure your home has branded, certified wires.

4. Does any wire size work for all purposes?

No. Wire size depends on the load:
• 1.0–1.5 sq.mm – Lights, fans, small loads.
• 2.5 sq.mm – Sockets for medium appliances.
• 4.0 sq.mm+ – ACs, geysers, ovens, and heavy loads.

5. Why do electricians suggest bigger wires everywhere?

Oversizing is a “safe” shortcut but increases costs unnecessarily. The correct size must match the load for both safety and efficiency.

6. Can the right wire save electricity?

Yes. Wires with proper size and uni-conductor construction reduce resistance, avoid power loss, and save electricity.

7. What is the difference between FR, FR-LSH, and ZHFR wires?

• FR (Flame Retardant): Slows fire spread.
• FR-LSH (Low Smoke & Halogen): Emits less toxic smoke during fire, safer for homes.
• ZHFR (Zero Halogen): Emits almost no halogen gases, very low smoke — safest for hospitals, offices, and modern homes.

8. What is “halogen” in wires?

Halogens are chemicals in insulation that, in fire, release toxic gases and thick smoke. Low/zero-halogen wires reduce this danger.

9. What is the difference between Class 2 and Class 5 wires?

• Class 2: Stiffer, harder, mainly for fixed wiring.
• Class 5: Flexible, easy to install, better for homes.
